Planning permission has been granted for a new Alzheimers daycare centre for Monaghan.
The Alzheimers Society of Ireland applied to Monaghan County Council in February for permission to construct the new centre at Rooskey Vale. In a cover letter included with the application, it says the Monaghan Day Centre would have two day rooms with en suites, a sensory garden, salon and laundry rooms. A detached garage is also included which will be used to house the mini-bus that will be used to transport users to and from the centre. The submission states the centre will provide dementia specific, person centred care to meet the needs of the person in a warm, welcoming and safe environment while providing support and stimulation.
Permission for the development was granted subject to 16 conditions, including payment of fees totalling just over €15,000.
