A local Community Development Association has received permission to erect a life-size woolly mammoth at a site in Co Cavan.
The planning application was lodged by the Belturbet Community Development Association for the Railway Station Site in Straheglin, Belturbet.
The first ever remnants in Europe of the prehistoric Wooly Mammoth are believed to have been found on Turbet island.
The works will see a life-size woolly mammoth, measuring 10 by 14 feet, placed on a base which will blend into the surrounding ground.
Works will also include a "gravel viewing area" with two benches to the front of the structure.
