Darley National School in Cootehill has received part 8 planning approval for a mainstream classroom and special education teaching room.
Minister for Education, Norma Foley made the announcement yesterday evening.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Niamh Smyth said these latest developments will be welcomed by the local community.
She pointed out that the principal, Derek Middleton, and board of management at the school had worked "tirelessly" to bring the project to fruition.
Deputy Smyth added that the move will benefit future generations in Cootehill with their primary education.
Meanwhile Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith says these building works will enhance considerably the schools overall accommodation.
I know that the Principal, Derek Middleton, and his staff colleagues, the Board of Management and the Parents’ Association have worked hard to bring this project to this stage. I wish all the school community every success with this welcome building project”.
