Cavan County Council has secured funding through the Outdoor Rural Infrastructure Fund, to deliver a plan for the future development of Crover Lakeshore on the banks of beautiful Lough Sheelin.
The 8-acre scenic site, known locally as 'Kit's Pier', is rich in biodiversity, has high ecological value, and is popular with locals in the area. A public consultation takes place next Monday night from 6-8pm at Crover House Hotel to discuss the plan of action and strategic vision for the shore.
Mountnugent Village Regeneration Association is leading the charge and its chairman Noel Connell says the plan is marvellous, and there is much to look forward to in 2023 and beyond.
He also highlighted the importance of local people coming out to attend the public consultation so their views and feedback can be factored into the final plan. "The draft plan is actually massive and it's absolutely brilliant what's in it.
"We will take on board everyone's concerns - it's only a draft plan at the moment. There will probably another draft plan before we reach the final furlong. But this consultation will allow everyone to engage with what is being proposed," added Mr Connell.
