Fianna Fáil's PJ O'Hanlon has been elected Chair of the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney Municipal District.
He was elected unopposed this morning to replace Fine Gael's Aidan Campbell.
Councillor Campbell was last week elected Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council.
At today's AGM Councillor O'Hanlon was praised for his work and dedication to the area.
He in turn thanked his colleagues for the nomination and commended their dedication to the area and ability to work together.
Sinn Féin's Noel Keelan was elected Leas-Cathaoirleach for the next 12 months.
