Pieta House says World Suicide Prevention Day is an opportunity to focus on knowing the signs of suicide.
Every year, suicide accounts for over 800,000 deaths globally and on World Suicide Prevention day, people are encouraged to reach out for support.
Tom McEvoy, a funding and advocacy manager with Pieta House, says over 10,000 people a day have been contacting the charity throughout the pandemic, almost double the number of calls taken during the same period last year.
The charity provides free therapy to those engaging in self-harm, with suicidal ideation, or bereaved by suicide.
