Photo-Fits released for first time by Gardai investigating Belturbet Bombing

The bombing in the Cavan Town killed 15 year old local girl Geraldine O' Reilly and 16 year old Patrick Stanley.

Gardai have released photo fits for the first time of the people or person who they believe was involved in the Belturbet Bombing almost 50 years ago.

The bomb was one of three that exploded without any warning over a space of 49 minutes on the night of December 28th 1972.

The bombing in the Cavan Town killed 15 year old local girl Geraldine O' Reilly and 16 year old Patrick Stanley and others were injured when the car bomb went off on the main street in the town at 10.28 that night.

Gardai have also released information into the description of others that were in the cars involved in the bombings and also the types of cars that were involved.

Two men were seriously injured when a bomb exploded in Clones at 10.01 that night.

Tragically Patrick McCabe from Clones died the following week when he fell from a roof that he was repairing following the damage caused by the Clones Bomb.

At 10.50 p.m. on 28th December 1972, a bomb exploded outside a licensed premises near Pettigo, Co. Donegal. One female was injured.

Speaking at a press conference earlier today Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern of the Cavan, Monaghan and Louth Garda Division tells us about Geraldine O' Reilly and Patrick Stanley.
