Eight-time All-Ireland GAA winner Philly McMahon is in Monaghan Town this evening for a presentation on being resilient through his struggles in life.
St Macartan's and St Louis secondary schools are inviting parents and younger people to hear from the inspirational former Dublin GAA player.
Navigating Life's challenges together takes place this evening in the four seasons Hotel in Monaghan Town at 7.30 pm. Philly's brother died in 2012 from a drug overdose, and he has spoken about the effects of drugs in his community.[
He has set up a charity called Half Time Talk, which aims to motivate young adults with social problems and he has been involved with charity fundraising, such as the Focus Ireland "Shine A Light Night" to raise money for homeless families. Principal of St Macartan's school, David McCague says its a great opportunity to hear all about resilience first hand.
