Permission has been granted to retain three prefabs at a Monaghan town
Direct Provision Centre.
It's one of ten elements in the application at the St Patrick's Centre.
Tattonward Limited had sought permission to retain three single story
prefabricated buildings, each containing kitchenettes and shower rooms,
which are used to accommodate asylum seekers and the retention of the groundwork and foundation slab was also included.
A prefabricated laundry building is to be kept for 18 months, before being
replaced by a permanent structure.
While a vacant building will be converted to cooking facilities and a former
playroom turned into an outlet for convenience goods.
There are also plans to complete two new playgrounds, retaining walls and
ancillary works.
Monaghan County Council granted permission to retain the developments for
five years, after which the applicant can apply for a further extension or
remove the structures.
