Planning permission has been granted to Galetech Sustainable Living for the construction of 24 dwellings in Cavan.
The works, in Aghnaskerry and overlooking Killymooney Lough, will include the demolition of existing derelict dwelling house.
This will allow for the construction of 12, dormer-style semi-detached dwellings with basements and 12, two-storey semi-detached dwellings.
The original plans were for 26 dwellings, but this had to be revised down to 24.
'Friends of Killymooney Lough' said they had "serious concerns" over the development in terms of visual impact and water safety concerns, while 'Friends of the Irish Environment' said it would have a 'detrimental' impact on Killymooney Lough.
However, a Natura Impact Statement concluded that the works will not adversely impact the site, and the works have been granted permission, subject to 33 conditions.
