Public representatives across Cavan and Monaghan have called on those with information regarding 'The Disappeared' to come forward.
Their comments come as the search resumes at Bragan Bog in Co Monaghan to find the remains of 19-year-old Columba McVeigh who was murdered by the IRA in 1975 and buried in a secret location.
Deputy Brendan Smith said it was essential for anyone with the "slightest relevant information" to provide it to the authorities.
Meanwhile, Senator Robbie Gallagher said the McVeigh family have been through "a living hell" for the past 47 years.
He appealed to those with "any information whatsoever " to come forward and reassured them that those details would be treated in the strictest confidence.
"The search has resumed on Bragan Mountain for young Columba McVeigh, who went missing almost 47 years ago and his body has never been found. I'm making an appeal to anyone that has information that might lead to the whereabouts of Columba McVeigh to come forward, know that any information they give to the authorities would be held in the strictest confidence."
