Locals in Scotshouse has received confirmation from Eir that the erecting of a mast in the village has been shelved.
According to local resident and local election candidate John Connolly,a meeting was held with Eir representatives yesterday. They say there are now seeking a new location on the edge of the village for the telecommunications mast.
John says people power has won out against this proposed mast which was 12ft away from a child's bedroom. Eir workers tried to erect a 40ft high telephone mast in the local village almost 6 weeks ago.
Locals have been coming together for a number of weeks to deliver a clear message to Eir in relation to the erection of the mast in the village centre. Speaking to Northern Sound, John Connolly said it's a good news story for the village.
