Dr Ronan Glynn has urged people in Monaghan in particular to adhere to public health advice after today's update on Covid-19 in Ireland.
390 new cases of Covid 19 have been confirmed by the Department of Health today, with no further deaths.
Two thirds of those patients are aged under 45.
Of today's cases 209 are in Dublin, with 27 Cork, 22 Donegal, 21 in Galway and 14 in Kildare and Monaghan.
Including today's figures, the incidence rate per 100,000 population in Monaghan now stands at 125.
Dr Ronan Glynn, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said: “I am asking everyone, but particularly those living and working in Cork, Galway, Monaghan and Roscommon, to adhere to the public health advice. There is still time to get the virus back under control in these areas, break the chains of transmission and stop the spread of this highly infectious disease in these communities."
