The HSE is praising the people of Cavan and Monaghan for their efforts to reduce Covid-19 infection rates.
The five-day moving average in the two counties stands at five and six cases respectively, and both have incidence rates below the national average.
Locally today, Monaghan recorded five new cases, with Cavan recording fewer than five cases.
Dr Keith Ian Quintyne, a Specialist from the Department of Public Health North East, says there is “a downward trend” on the spread of the virus in the north east of the country.
He told Northern Sound it’s the result of people adhering to guidelines and a strong uptake in vaccinations:
