People across the Shannonside Northern Sound region are being in encouraged to participate in today's National Walking Day.
This initiative aims to inspire people to get out and walk in their local areas encouraging physical and mental wellbeing.
It is an initiative by Get Ireland Walking, and takes place as part of the European Week of Sport.
People are asked to walk across the region to take advantage of the 4 forest parks locally, as well as the walking trails.
In Cavan there is Killykeen Forest Park, Dun na Ri Forest Park, and Cavan Burren Park, while in Monaghan people can visit Rossmore Forest Park.
