The woman that was killed in a road collision in Clones over the weekend has been named locally as Elizabeth Betty McGoldrick from Clonavilla in Clones.
The accident happened on the Newbliss Road at Clonavilla at 10:45pm on Saturday night last.
It's believed that Betty was walking on the road when she was struck by a vehicle. The Clones resident had been living in the area for a long number of years and was originally from Scotland.
Monaghan Gardai have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Anyone with any information can contact Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77200.
Betty will repose at the family home on Friday from 4pm to 8pm with removal on Saturday morning at approx. 10.30am to arrive at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Clones, for 11am Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in Mount St Oliver's Cemetery.
