A local TD has raised the issue of passport waiting times in the Dáil.
It comes as figures revealed by the Tániste show 319 passport applications have been with the passport office for more than 3 months.
These often relate to complex issues such as citizenship, guardianship or legal issues. However, Deputy Matt Carthy believes that there are instances where mistakes made in the applications lengthen the waiting times. Speaking in the Dáil, the Monaghan TD asked the Tánaiste if there were discussions ongoing to streamline the process.
