Part 8 planning has been approved for major works at the Black Island at Lough Muckno in Castlesblayney.
The development is set to provide recreational enhancements at Black Island, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan incorporating the upgrades to existing gravel paths, new picnic tables and wooden seating with new units and increased capacity, miscellaneous natural viewing features at rest points along with all other ancillary works at all sites required to deliver the project.
According to local councillor Aidan Campbell, €500,000 has been secured for the local amenity from Minister Heather Humphrey's' department.
Cllr Campbell says this substantial investment is all about building on the wonderful asset that is the Black Island. He says the plans approved is good news for the area.
