Monaghan County Council says pay parking machines will remain in place if a new cashless payment system is put in place.
The local authority has issued a tender for cashless pay parking systems.
A Spokesperson for the Council has confirmed it has issued a tender for a number of cashless systems, such as payment through text message, smartphone app.
It says the precise system to be used won’t be known until the tenders are evaluated but that existing pay parking machines will remain in place and operate alongside the new system.
This will allow people pay with coins if they wish and receive a ticket to display on their dashboard.
