A Monaghan councillor has raised his concerns over parking issues in Ballybay. Cllr Sean Gilliland raised the matter at the most recent sitting of the Clones - Ballybay Municipal District. According to Cllr Gilliland businesses located on the Main Street are feeling the financial brunt of people leaving their car parked in the town for over the two hour limit and it some cases "all day. "
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Gilliland said that customers are "driving on elsewhere" due to the lack of parking that is in "reasonable distance" to them and the business they want to access. According to the Ballybay representative there will be "additional wardens" in the area and cars will receive tickets for parking out of hours.
"I would urge people to please use the car park facilities which are in Ballybay as opposed to blocking up the parking spaces on the Main Street," he explained. "I have on numerous occasions parked in the town and witnessed the disabled car parking spaces being abused and I would urgently ask people to not do that."
