A local mother has raised her concerns over school bus services from Kilnaleck to Cavan town. Pauline Clarke has been pleading with Bus Eireann to introduce a bus route to bring Kilnaleck students to schools in Cavan town for years now.
As a result, a campaign group consisting of concerned parents was set-up over a year ago to deal with the matter "head on" after years of what members describes, as "calls falling on deaf ears".
The Kilnaleck mother recently addressed the issue at a meeting in the Dail. Speaking to Northern Sound, Pauline highlighted how she believes that local school children from the area "deserve better".
"We have emailed these schools and highlighted to them that we don't have transport to get there, and we have asked them to help us with this situation. We want our children to have choice and we hear that children have a right to education but we are not seeing that because we need transport to get to this education - and that should be a right too for children.
"There are children being told that they can't go to these schools because of financial pressures within the home and that is very, very sad," she added.
