The late Paddy Cole has been described as a true gentleman and son of Castleblayney.
The veteran sax player and singer passed away yesterday afternoon after a long term battle with cancer. The Monaghan man played with such acts like the Capitol Showband, Brendan Bowyer and his own Paddy Cole Superstars.
He was known as the ‘King of the Swingers’ and only celebrated his 85th birthday last month. Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show a number of years ago, Paddy, who spent many years in the US said he always intended on returning home to Monaghan.
Fr Brian Darcy who was a close friend of Paddy's says he had a fantastic sense of humour.
Paddy's former manager and Cavan man Tommy Swarbrigg, added that he was a fabulous musician and was loved by everyone.
