Annual National Heritage Week celebrations are currently underway across Cavan and Monaghan.
Each year, Heritage Week kicks off on the third weekend of August and runs until the end of the following weekend.
The schedule is packed this year, with a variety of events being held pertaining to the physical, social and cultural heritage of the Northern Sound region.
Among the free activities taking place in the coming days is a behind-the-scenes insight into the conservation and restoration of St. Macartan's Cathedral in Co. Monaghan, and a discussion about how modern poets, such as Heather Brett, have been influenced by the landscapes of Co. Cavan.
