Just over €960,000 has been allocated to the Northern Sound region for projects that will "help ensure a safe outdoor summer".
The 'Additional Outdoor Infrastructure Fund' was announced today by Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan.
Local authorities were invited to apply to the funding stream in late April for short-term measures that would enhance outdoor urban space and improve walking and cycling facilities.
19 projects across Cavan will receive just over €840,000 in funding, while three projects in Monaghan will benefit from funding of €120,000.
Minister Ryan said the funding will support local authorities in re-creating open spaces and facilities, "which will both take into account public health guidelines and allow communities to thrive once again".
