Funding of over €830,000 is to be spent on improvement works for local authority houses across the Northern Sound region.
The funding, from the Department of Housing, was announced this morning. It will see various works carried out on 57 houses in the region.
€542,874 will be spent in Cavan, where 32 houses to be adapted and six to be extended.
Monaghan has plans for 14 adaptations, four extensions and works will take place in one person's home, in lieu of social housing, with €288,443 being allocated to the works.
90 per cent of the funding in each county will be provided by the Department of Housing, with the other 10 per cent coming from County Councils.
The announcement today has been welcomed locally, with Minister Heather Humphreys saying it will benefit the householders as well as the local economy and TD Brendan Smith says it is an important scheme which has seen an increase in funding locally.
