More than €563,000 has been awarded to 13 projects across the Northern Sound region under the CLÁR Programme.
The Department of Rural and Community Development Programme is described as a part of the Government's five-year strategy to revitalise rural towns and villages.
The CLÁR programme supports safety infrastructure projects and funds outdoor recreation facilities, including the development of new and enhanced community spaces and playgrounds.
€563,176 is headed to the Northern Sound region, with seven projects in Cavan and six in Co Monaghan benefitting from the funding.
Stand out projects in Cavan includes €50,000 which will help Kingscourt community centre upgrade its playground.
The same amount is headed to Killeshandra to provide upgrades and safety improvements to its community playground.
In Monaghan, Mullan village is one of the big winners and will also receive €50,000 to develop a community play area, while Drumhowan Community Centre gets the same funding for a recreation area and sensory garden.

Measure 1 of the Programme improves safety infrastructure such as footpaths, public lighting, traffic calming measures and car parking facilities. This measure also continues to support projects that help adapt the environs of schools and community facilities to help meet challenges arising from the pandemic.
Measure 2 funds outdoor community recreation facilities, including the development of new and enhanced community spaces, such as playgrounds and Multi Use Games Areas.

Drumhowan Community Centre: Drumhowan outdoor recreation area and sensory garden. €50,000.00. Measure 2.
Clones Town FC: Provide a turning space, lighting and parking measures at the carpark. €48,539.56. Measure 1.
Aughnamullen Community Centre: Upgrade of carpark at Aughnamullen Community Centre. Addition of footpaths, planters and LED lighting. €50,000.00. Measure 1.
Mullyash Day Care Centre: Construction of a new carpark to include laying of concrete, drainage works and all other ancillary works required. Installing line markings for parking spaces and drop off zones. €19,919.70. Measure 1.
