Cavan and Monaghan Leader programmes are to receive over €12m in funding between them over the coming weeks and months. An overall €180m funding package under the Leader Programme 2023-2027 was announced this morning.
Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, says the move will support thousands of locally-led rural development and enterprise projects over the next five years. She added the selection process will be conducted over two stages including 'Expression of Interest' and through 'Leader Strategies Development'.
Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fail TD, Deputy Niamh Smyth highlighted how the process would be open, transparent and competitive. "These are all very important community schemes that nurture the fabric of rural life across Cavan and Monaghan.
"It helps people that might get isolated in more rural parts and it also gets enormous work done through various schemes across the counties," she said.
