Over 600 new were built during 2022 in Cavan and Monaghan according to new figures released.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that Cavan had 265 new dwellings completed while Monaghan had 339 completed over the course of the year.
The newly released figures from the CSO show that in the Cavan/Belturbet Municipal District there were 119 homes built, 75 were completed in the district of Bailieborough/Cootehill and 71 homes were finished in the Ballyjamesduff district during 2022.
In Monaghan the figures show that 122 dwellings were completed in the Monaghan Municipal District, 159 were built in the Carrickmacross/Castleblayney region and 58 in the Ballybay/Clones area. There were 29,851 new dwelling completions in the whole of 2022, which represents an increase of over 45 percent from 2021 and up 41 percent from 2019.
The number of apartments completed nationally in 2022 were 9,148, a rise of over 78 percent in 2021. A CSO report on planning applications in 2022 found a total of 34,177 dwellings were granted permission last year by local authorities
