There are currently 2822 Ukrainians living in Cavan and Monaghan.
1,931 Ukrainian beneficiaries of temporary protection, or BOTPs, live in County Cavan at present while a total of 891 have taken up residence in County Monaghan. Of the Ukrainian BOTPS in Cavan, 584 are living with 260 hosts, which represents about 28 per cent of the total number living in the county. In Monaghan, 113 hosts have taken in 253 Ukrainian refugees into their homes. This figure represents 30 per cent of the total number of Ukrainians who have made Monaghan their home since conflict broke out in their home country almost two years ago on February 24th 2022. The figures are contained in new research carried out by Helping Irish Hosts and the Irish Red Cross and formed part of a report presented to Oireachtas members at a briefing in Leinster House last Wednesday. The groups' research also shows that 92% of people hosting Ukrainians have had a positive experience and 76% would recommend it. 25% of Ukrainian arrivals to Ireland are currently in host accommodation or pledged properties. Hosting has led to an annual saving to the taxpayer of €386 million versus the cost of state provided accommodation.
