Over 1900 new vehicle registrations occurred during 2022 in Cavan and Monaghan.
162 of them sold during the past 12 months were electric.
Nationally over 105,000 new registrations were recorded with over 15,500 opting for EV ownership.
The number of electric vehicles sold in County Cavan during 2022 broke the 100 barrier for the first time with 103 electrical cars sold which was up from 76 in 2021.
In Monaghan, though starting from a lower level the jump in EV ownership was even more pronounced -up from 23 in 2021 to 59 for the last 12 months.
A total of 15,678 new electric cars were registered in 2022, an increase on the 8,646 registrations seen in 2021 and 3,444 in 2019.

The report found that the total new car registrations for 2022, finished at 105,253 with a similar figure of 104,932 for 2022.
In Cavan 1083 new cars were registered compared to 1137 during 2021, which was a decrease of 54 cars sold compared to the past 12 months.
In Monaghan 826 cars were registered compare to 881 in 2021 which was 55 less sold during 2022 than the previous year.
