Over 15,000 remain without electricity across Cavan and Monaghan

Mr Comiskey says everything that can be done is being done.

Over 15 thousand customers still remain without power across Cavan and Monaghan 5 days after Storm Eowyn.

Austrian lineworkers arrived in Ireland to assist ESB Networks with power outages this morning and made their way to Co Cavan.

Barry Comiskey, Senior Manager for ESB Networks confirmed to Northern Sound that crews from Austria had arrived in Cavan earlier this afternoon. He said that these workers would be working alongside ESB crew members by this evening across Cavan,

It's in effort to bring back the up on 17,000 homes, businesses and farms that have been affected by Storm Eowyn. Nationally, 168 thousand people remain without power due to the storm, and it could be next week before everyone is connected back to the grid.

Mr Comiskey says everything that can be done is being done to assist with this record breaking unprecedented operation that's underway. He also added that he wanted to thank people from across the region for their patience during these difficult times.
