It's D-Day for the class of 2021 as the Leaving Cert Exams get underway.
Over 1,300 students from across the Northern Sound region will be among those sitting down to English Paper 1 from 9.30am.
702 students in Monaghan and 648 in Cavan opted to sit written exams this year or a mix of written and accredited grades.
Due to public health measures there are more than 5,000 exam centres being used to allow for social distancing.
This year sixth year students have the option of sitting the exams, accepting calculated grades or choosing both.
