Over €13.5 million has been allocated to the Shannonside Northern Sound Region for walking and cycling projects.
Minister and local TD Heather Humphreys has welcomed funding this afternoon which comes under the Active Travel fund.
Cavan is to receive over €3.37 million in funding which will go towards footpath improvements and village enhancements.
In Monaghan over €2.5 million has been allocated for projects in including the Monaghan town greenway.
Meanwhile in the Shannonside region Roscommon is to get the largest allocation at €3.2 million, some of which will fund footpath and cycle lane development.
Longford has received €2.3 million with Leitrim getting just over €2 million for similar schemes and projects.
