Over 100 Gardaí have left the force locally since 2020

Over 100 Gardaí have left An Garda Síochána in the Louth/Cavan/Monaghan division since 2020.

It represents the third highest figure across all Garda divisions nationally. 22 have left the force so far this year locally with reasons varying from retirements, medical discharges, resignations, and dismissals. 21 Gardaí left the force last year, 22 in 2022, 23 in 2021, and 18 in 2020, a total of 106.

Nationally, 2,097 members have left the Gardaí since 2020 with the total strength of the force now at 12,816.
