Outcomers LGBT Support is launching adult services in Cavan and Monaghan this week. Already in situ across Louth and Meath, the support group is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
It's focus is on the creation of safe and inclusive spaces for the community and proceedings kick off in Castleblayney tomorrow with a yoga and coffee event at Crafty on Muchno Street. A bi-weekly peer support group is also being launched at the Castleblayney Enterprise Centre on the 18th of October, next.
Annie Blake, outreach worker with Outcomers told Shannonside Northern Sound that no adult services exist in Cavan and Monaghan. She added the need is there and Outcomers is set to address that. We already have peer support groups facilitated by Outcomers in other towns," continued Ainne.
"So, what we will be doing is bringing that support to Castleblayney. Then at some point we might branch out to somewhere else in Co Monaghan. It's about finding out where the need is in the community for these services. So, peer support group is a safe space in a comfortable, welcoming building where people come together bi-weekly for two, two and half hours and connect with other LGBTQ+ and trans people in their area."
