'Operational issues' forced Bus Éireann services from Cavan and Kells to Dublin to be suspended, to the frustration of locals across the Northern Sound region.
Yesterday, Bus Éireann apologised to customers for cancelling dozens of its services around the country.
However, the operator says only 1.4 per cent of trips were affected by the end of the day.
While routes in the South and South East region were most affected, the popular Cavan and Kells bus route to Dublin was also suspended as a result of the alleged "staffing issues."
The company has since apologised to its customers for any inconvenience caused.
In a statement, it cited "driver shortages" as one of the causes of the disrupted services.
Bus Éireann also revealed that "typically" service issues arise from a number of factors depending on location.
This can include challenges in driver recruitment, driver unavailability often at short notice and more recently difficulty in hiring contractors to support services - which has more impact at comparatively smaller depots.
Bus Éireann says it is actively recruiting drivers nationwide to minimise further service cancellations in future.
The service added, that it is "unfortunately necessary" to cancel a service, however it manages this to minimise the impact on customers, for example "temporarily reducing frequency on higher frequency routes" and "making every effort to ensure the last service of the day operates.
