A local resident has welcomed a joint policing operation which took place over the weekend between Clones Gardaí and the PSNI. This is the first of a series of planned cross border operations for the Drummully/Clonagore area, located on the Fermanagh/Monaghan border in response to a rise in complaints of dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, local resident John Connolly said that people in the area are still "living in fear" over "boy racer events" which often take place during the middle of the night.
According to Mr Connolly, serious breaches in road traffic legislation and anti-social behaviour across the area is of particular concern to elderly residents living nearby who he says "cannot tolerate" the situation any longer.
He added that it is "important" for both the PSNI and An Garda Síochána to "come together" in relation to this matter, otherwise "nothing" will be done.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Mr Connolly said; "We are happy at the moment that things are moving in a positive direction, and we have a local group meeting with An Garda Siochana taking place later this week on the matter.
"Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this and stop these events from happening in the area. I'm asking these people to consider the elderly and to consider their own parents or grandparents living in a similar situation."
