A walk-in information clinic in relation to the EU's Cross-border Health Directive is open to members of the public in Monaghan town today.
The clinic will take place from 10am until 4.30pm this afternoon in Senator Robbie Gallagher's office, 24 Glaslough Street.
Representatives from Kingsbridge Hospital will be on site to provide further information about the service and answer any public queries or concerns.
Under the scheme, those on pro-longed waiting lists in the Republic can access healthcare in Northern Ireland. The HSE will then reimburse clients the cost of what that treatment would be in the South.
The scheme has been used frequently for orthopaedic problems including hip and knee replacements.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Robbie Gallagher says the scheme has become "very popular" since it was first introduced a number of years ago.
He added that while it "might not be for everyone" today is the perfect opportunity for those who would like to access the service:
