Only one heatwave-related fire was attended to locally during last week's heatwave.
As a result of the high temperatures, an Orange Fire Risk was issued by the Department of Agriculture.
It was deemed that there was a high fire risk in all areas where there are hazardous fuels, such as dead grasses, and shrub fuels, such as heather and gorse.
However, only one incident was recorded locally, with Carrickmacross Fire Service attending a gorse fire in the Corduff area at 22:20pm on Friday.
A large section of hedging was on fire, but this was quickly put under control using water hoses and wildfire beaters, which prevented the fire from spreading into a large gorse area.
