One in Five people say new drivers-licence rules for 'over 75s are still “ageist”
The changes mean the age at which drivers have to supply a medical report has been extended from 70 to 75. A total of 24pc of the 1,000 people surveyed said they would favour a universal approach where all drivers should be required to provide a medical report regardless of age.
Changes were made to the policy in February 2022 to increase the age at which drivers have to supply a medical report from 70-75. The survey was carried out by iReach on behalf of Peopl Insurance.
Paul Walsh, CEO of Peopl Insurance says a quarter of 1000 adults surveyed believe the policy should be abolished altogether in favour of a more universal approach where all drivers have to have a medical.
