Day 4 of the RAS Tailteann will see the cyclists travel from Castlebar in Co Mayo to the stage finish in Monaghan town, travelling via Longford, Cavan, Ballyhaise, Scotshouse, Clones and onto Monaghan.
The event is a massive economical boost to the area with an overnight stay in the town before the final stage on Sunday which starts from the Monaghan Harps GAA club takes the competitors to Blackrock via Ballybay, Shercock, Kingscourt and Ardee.
Mark Skeath of SDG is sponsoring the event and he is also vice chairman of the Emyvale Cycling Club. Speaking to Northern Sound, Mark highlighted how it's a cycling event of national importance and this weekend will be an historic occasion for Co Monaghan because the Ras was last here in 1982.
He added that the Ras together with National Bike Week will encourage local people of all ages and abilities to dust off the bike and get cycling. "Emyvale Cycling Club has 120 members across all ranges from racing and touring to leisure.
"We also have a number of development programmes and we are currently running 'From Couch to 50km'. So, we are encouraging everyone now to get up, dust the bike off, and get out cycling," Mark said.
