No stone should be left unturned to return Nuremore to former glory, that's according to Deputy Matt Carthy.
Sinn Féin TD for Cavan Monaghan, Matt Carthy, has welcomed the news that the Nuremore Hotel in Carrickmacross has been placed on the market for sale.
He called on the government to ensure that state agencies engage with potential buyers to ensure that this flagship property is restored as a fully functional, commercial hotel, leisure centre and golf club, without delay. The Nuremore Hotel & Country Club, once a flagship tourism amenity in the South Monaghan economy, has now been closed since January 2023.
Deputy Carthy has said that he believes that a lack of oversight of a government scheme, the Immigrant Investor Programme, led to the hotel being ran into liquidation. Government now, he said, must leave no stone unturned to ensure that the Nuremore returns to its former glory.
Deputy Carthy says the Nuremore Hotel & Country club has been a huge loss to the local community, the regional economy and County Monaghan tourism since the doors were shut.
