As of 9am this morning approx. 14,000 customers across counties Cavan and Momnaghan remain without power as a result of Storm Éowyn.
The figure is down from the official figure of 17,000 yesterday evening and comes after Austrian lineworkers arrived in Cavan to assist ESB Networks restore power in the area yesterday.
Meanwhile, the ESB is reinforcing its vital warning around public safety as we are into day six of the restoration of supply following Storm Éowyn which caused unprecedented damage to electricity infrastructure nationwide.
A statement from the probvider says: "We wish to strongly reiterate our safety request to the general public to focus people's attention on electrical safety while outdoors.
"We still have many faults on the electricity network and have been made aware of several instances of potentially very dangerous incidents where members of the public have unknowingly approached fallen electricity infrastructure."
The advice from ESB remains: "If you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never, ever touch or approach these as they are LIVE and extremely dangerous. Please report any damage to electricity infrastructure by calling 1800 372 999. "
