Number of buildings under construction in region up 40%

The number of construction projects that got underway locally in the first 9 months of the year has increased by 40% year on year.

New data from the Department of Housing shows 425 commencement notices have been issued in Cavan, double last years figure of 211. While 215 projects began in Monaghan up to September, down on 247 the same time last year. In total, 640 commencements were issued across the region in the first 9 months of this year, an overall increase on the 458 commencements in 2023.
