The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet later to discuss the deteriorating Covid-19 situation in the country's hospitals.
Latest figures show there are 1,770 patients with the virus in hospitals, which includes 176 in ICU.
Yesterday saw the second highest number of deaths associated with the disease with 63 reported, while a futher 3,569 infections were detected.
Monaghan saw the number of cases jump again with 98 and an incidence rate of 2,738.
Cavan's incidence rate is still at 1,499 and there were 66 cases yesterday.
Cavan now has the 10th highest incidence rate nationally, however, Monaghan remains top of the table.
