There aren't enough garda resources to deal with anti-social behaviour and street drug dealing in Co Meath. That's the concern from local TD Johnny Guirke as Meath has the lowest number of Gardai in the country per head of population.
It has just 1 garda for every 703 people, compared to Waterford which has the highest number, with 1 guard for every 338 people. Deputy Guirke says garda resources are being moved away from his county and other rural areas.
"Every town and village in Ireland has anti-social behaviour and drug dealing. In these smaller garda stations across Co Meath, the Gardai are constantly being pulled to the bigger stations because of the lack of resources.
"That has been going on for years and I have raised this issue several times in the Dail over the last three years," he added.
