A Do Not Consume notice has been issued for a south Monaghan Group Water Scheme.
Donaghmoyne GWS issued the notice with immediate effect after elevated levels of manganese were detected.
It’s one of three Do Not Consume notices currently in place in Cavan and Monaghan.
The drinking water quality coming from the Donaghmoyne Group Water Scheme is considered to be considerably compromised and pose an immediate health risk.
The notice comes following consultation with the HSE and Monaghan County Council.
Customers on the scheme are being advised that the tap water isn’t suitable for drinking or preparing drinks, cooking food, brushing teeth or gargling or for making ice.
Meanwhile, two Do Not Consume notices are still in place on Group Water Schemes in Cavan.
For twelve weeks now, higher levels of manganese and aluminium have made water from the Mountainlodge Group Water Scheme undrinkable.
A similar notice for the Billis-Lavey GWS is into its seventh week, again due to manganese levels.
Alternative water supplies remain in place at designated locations.
