The decision to dump checks on goods arriving into Northern Ireland ports from Britain will hurt businesses in the north, according to a junior minister.
The suspension came into effect overnight, following an order by Agriculture Minister, Edwin Poots.
That has been described as unlawful by the Irish government and some opposition parties at Stormont, but the UK government says it won't intervene.
Talks between the UK and EU to resolve outstanding issues on the Northern Ireland Protocol continue later.
