A Northern Ireland Council has lent its support to the progression of the N2 Clontibret to the Border Scheme.
Monaghan County Council recently confirmed it is "suspending" its contract with consultants for the roads scheme.
It was one of a number of projects to be stalled by the TII in January.
The Local Authority wrote to Mid Ulster Council, seeking its support for the continuation of the road project.
In written correspondence to Monaghan County Council, Mid Ulster Chair, Councillor Paul McLean, said the Council "supports the road scheme which would benefit the entire northwest region".
The statement added that the "provision of good transport links" would provide a boost to the economy and tourism for the region.
