EirGrid confirmed there will be a €40 m compensation pot available to those affected by interconnector.

Eirgrid told Northern Sound "to date, approximately €42 m has been spent" on the proposed north-south interconnector.

Northern Sound confirmed that Eirgrid in November had written to these landowners in Meath, Cavan and Monaghan, with an voluntary compensation package.

A second interconnector is needed according to Eirgrid.
